Smiley Spring Poetry Contest!


Our 5th annual Smiley Spring Poetry Contest is underway, so sharpen your pencil and put on your smiley hat! It's time to get creative. Put your thoughts on paper and send them to us to win big prizes!

Write a poem about the timeless icon, the yellow Smiley Face. Make it serious, make it humorous, make it charming, but have fun doing it! It's easy, so grab paper and pencil and start writing yours now!

We must receive your entry no later than April 30th. Winners will be announced in May.

There are two age categories, adult (ages 16 and up), and children (ages 15 and below).

Prizes are free shopping sprees at www.smileystore.com and the same prizes are awarded in both age categories.

• First prize winner receives a $100 shopping spree.

• Third prize winner receives a $50 shopping spree.

Contest Rules

By submitting an entry, you agree to the following rules.

What can I win?

There are two age categories, adult (ages 16 and up), and children (ages 15 and below). First, second, and third place in each category will win a prize. One or more additional winners will receive "Honorable Mention" but no prize is awarded.

First place winner in each category wins a $100 shopping spree at www.smileystore.com. The prize is a store coupon worth $100 of smiley products. The entire amount of the coupon must be used during one shopping session. The total of your order must be at least the amount of the prize (i.e. $100, $75, or $50). Any amount over that total, and the shipping charge, must be paid with a credit card or Paypal. Coupons are valid from May 2008 to December 31, 2008. Coupons are not valid at our CafePress store.

Second prize winner in each category wins a $75 shopping spree, with the same conditions as described above.

Third prize winner in each category wins a $50 shopping spree, with the same conditions as described above.

Only one entry and prize per person.


Who may enter?

Anyone may enter. You do not need to be a prior customer of www.smileystore.com to enter the contest.

What do I send you to enter this contest?

Write a poem and send it to us via regular mail, along with an entry form.

The poem must be an original work, created by you between now and April 30th. We must receive your entry no later than April 30, 2008.

The title and content of your poem can be anything you want it to be, but the general thought behind the poem should be about the iconic smiley face. The style and length of the poem is up to you.

Poems will be judged by the staff of Bitwise Gifts or a designated literary expert and all decisions are final.

How do I submit my poem?

Send your poem and entry form to us via regular mail. Click Entry Form to print an official entry form. Our mail address is on the entry form. Also send us a copy of your poem via e-mail so we have it in electronic form and to let us know that your mailed copy is on the way. Our e-mail address is

How will I know if I won?

Winner's will be notified by e-mail or phone and the winning entries will first appear on this page in early May 2008.

Additional rules

All prizes are non-transferable and void where prohibited by law. No cash substitution of prizes allowed.

Winners understand and agree that they are responsible for any and all taxes incurred on prizes received.

Employees of Bitwise Gifts and their families or households are ineligible to enter or win.
