The beautiful antique globe features Computer Controlled Levitation (CCL). A magnetic field sensor constantly measures the height at which the globe is suspended. The sensor and the microcomputer in the base control an electronic magnet in the upper arm that adjusts the height of the globe automatically. An additional, permanent magnet in the base holds the sphere safely on the frame when the suspension mechanism is switched off.
