The St. Luke's Methodist Church stood about a third of the way up Front Street, from the mill buildings. It no longer exists today; it fell during a winter storm in 1976 although it had been abandoned for many years before that. A new building for the church was erected about a mile away and still operates today.

My grandfather, Osborn Hughes Phillips, was a faithful member of this church for many years. A memorial to his service was erected at the new church building. The memorial consists of a brick base with inscriptions, and topped with the original bell from the building shown above.
