MINUTES OF BUSINESS MEETINGS

1927

I have generally tried to be accurate in regards to the original spelling and grammer. Appreciation is extended to Glencoe Baptist Church for granting permission to use this document.


Jan 4, 1927

After prayer meeting the pastor called the church to come into conference. The clerk stated that Rev. & Mrs R. S. Lennon ask for their letter. A motion was made and seconed and vote taken. Was so ordered.

A motion was made and seconed to grant the ladies the priviledge to build a stove flue in their room. The following com- was appointed to help them - C. F. Phillips, G. T. Fawcette, G. L. Murray. Vote taken, was so ordered.

Jan 18, 1927

Meeting of the Board of Decons in the pastors home. J. R. & Jim Allen, G. T. Fawcette, C. F. Phillips were present.

A motion to have a church get to gether meeting on Sat. night before the first Sunday in Feb. 1927. Vote taken, was so ordered. The purpose of this meeting is to have each member present and discuss the best interest of the church and all concerned. It is ernestly request that every member show some interest, especially by being present.

May 29, 1927

Today was a great day in the Sunday School and church. We had 140 at Sunday School and at 11-oclock Bro Fred N. Day of Winston Salem was here and preached which was the beginning of a revival meeting.


June 5, 1927

Today was the closing of our meeting which was a very successful meeting of which we received 9 canadates for Baptism. The following: Mrs Geo T. Fawcette, Veri Thompson, Ethel Sanders, Louie Phillips, Dellie Swaim, Ruth Record, Lillie Record, Fay & Lorina Murray.


June 15, 1927

A meeting of the board of Deacons was held tonight at the pastors home at 730 oclock, and the following business was transacted.

A motion to excuse the pastor from paying on the local expenses of the church.

Was also ordered:

A motion to have Bro John Dickens, Otha Ross, Yerby Payne appear at the next church conference. So ordered.

A motion to have the board of Finatiance officers canvass the delinquent member and see if they love this church and are willing to support the cause.

A motion to appoint a committe with the pastor as chairman to confer with Bro Wilson and renew the note which he holds against the church. So ordered.

No further business, moved and carried we adjourn. So ordered.

Sept 12, 1927

The Board of Deacons met at the church with all of the members present. After singing Hymn no. 408, Bro G. L. Murray read a scripture Mark [?] and led us in prayer. The following business was transacted.

The board desided to have an every member canvass Sunday Sept 18, 1927.

Moved seconed vote taken was ordered we order envelopes for the coming year.

Moved and second and ordered we take steps to raise $100.00 to pay Bro R. A. Wilson on note.

Was desided that we have a Thinkgiving Service the 4 Sunday in Nov. 1927.

Was desided that we recommend the following officers for the coming year - namely

Ernest Murray as Supt. S. S.
J. R. Allen as asst. Supt.
C. F. Phillips as C. C.
G. M. Phillips as Treas.
Sister Geo Fawcette as Cradle Roll Supt.
Inez Ashworth as Graded Supt

The present Board of Trustees was relected with Bro Nathan Pennington.

Moved and carried we pay Path [?] Printing for bill against church.

Moved and carried we appoint Bro G. L. Murray and C. F. Phillips as a paint com.


Sept 25, 1927

After devotional exercises the pastor call the church in conference. The church voted to accept all of the recommendations of the Board of Deacons of Sept 12, 1927. Also elected Bros J. R. Allen, James Allen, G. L. Murray, Sam Lineberry as messengers to the association.

Moved and carried we grant Bro Ives Johnson a letter to unite with the church at Wake Forest, N. C.

Sister Lillie & Ruth Record was baptized and admited into full fellowship with the ch-
