MINUTES OF BUSINESS MEETINGS1926

Jan 25, 1926
Meeting of the board of deacons at the home of Bro A. B. Hall.
The meeting was by the pastor J. B. Hackney by calling on Bro. Fawcette to lead us in prayer. The business of the evening was as follows.
A motion pay the Burlington Hdw Co the sum of $20.00 on acct was ordered.
A motion to change the Orphange day from the first Sunday in the month to the first Sunday of each quarter, was so ordered.
A motion to elect Bro G. L. Murray as chairman of the Board was so ordered.
A motion to appoint two of our board to see our treasure about making a report to the church each month either verbial or in person. The pastor and C. F. Phillips was appointed.
We the Under Signed Board of Decons of Glencoe Baptist Church take this method of expressing our sympathy and sorry to Bro G. L. Murray and family in the loss of their home which was destroyed by fire on the morning of Jan 25, 1926. That we also help them all we can in their hour of need. Signed - Pastor J. A. Hackney, C. F. Feb 8, 1926
Meeting of the board of Decons at the home of Bro C. F. Phillips. Meeting was opened by the chairman Bro G. L. Murray who called on Bro Fawcette for prayer.
The minutes of the last meeting was read. Also report of committees was also heard from Bro Phillips and the pastor J. A. H. The report of the Finational statement of the Treas was $23.82 after paying all outstanding accts.
A motion to send $10.00 to the Treas of the Baptist State Convention, Bro Walter Durham, was so ordered.
A motion to have Bro J. R. Allen, C. F. Phillips take a canvass to see how many we could get to give on the pastors home, was so ordered.
A motion to adjourn was so ordered.

Feb 25, 1926
Church met in conference after prayer meeting. The clerk read minutes of the last two meetings of the board of decons. Business of the evening was as following.
A motion to adopt the recommendation of the Board of decons in regard to the debt on the pastorium by appoint Bro C. F. Phillips and J. R. Allen to make a canvass.
A motion to accept the mantel given by Bro G. M. Phillips was so ordered.
A motion to [blank] the Missionary day on the [blank] by the Sunday School, so ordered.
May 24, 1926
Meeting of the board of deacons, the pastor acting as chairman in the absence of Bro Murray. After singing hymn #78 Bro Fawcette led us in prayer.
A motion to grant the young people the right to have a tennis court at the rear of the church, this to be voted on by the church in conference. p.s. It being understood that their shall be no games during any church services and the pastor shall be supervisor of same.
Moved and seconed and ordered we appoint Bro Fawcette and C. F. Phillips to confer with Bro E. M. Murray and pay the Interest on note held by the Jr. O. U. A. M. (36.00)
Moved and ordered that Bro Murray be relieved of this durites as finance officer and Bro Phillips G. M. to take his place.
The pastor is to write Bro Lennon a letter of some finance due the church.
No more business moved and ordered we adjourn without form.

July 12, 1926
Meeting of the Board of Decons. Bro G. L. Murray called the meeting his calling on Bro Allen to lead in prayer.
Moved and carried that we have the S. S. Secy give to the church a report on what is received and paid out of the S. S. fund each month.
Moved and carried we accept the pastor prop- to reduce his sallary from 34.00 per month to 25.00 untill times improve.
Moved and carried that we begain a special meeting Thursday night July 22, the pastor to do the preaching and the ch- to stand by him in the meetings.
Moved and carried that 3 of our decons go to see Bro Dickens our Deacon about holding open doors on the sabbath day and report the same back to the ch. Moved to adjourn was carried.

July 15, 1926
The church was called together in conference for the purpose of the following business.
Moved and carried we accept the recommendation of the Deacons to have the S. S. Secy give to the ch- a report for each month.
July 27, 1926
Moved and seconed and carried that we receive Bro John Riggans and wife into the church by statement.
Sept 6, 1926
Bro G. L. Murray called the Board of Deacons together by having Bro Fawcette to lead us in prayer.
Moved and seconed we order the single envelope sistem, was voted and carried.
Moved and seconed and carried we ask the Glencoe Mill to put us in a ton of coal.
Moved and seconed and carried we dig a well at the pastorium that there shall be no expense on the church. Bro John Allen & G. T. Fawcette shall be appointed a committe on same.
Moved and seconed we adjourn.

Sept 9, 1926
After prayer meeting the pastor called the church together in conference, the following business was transacted.
A vote was taken on the matter of digging a well at the pastors home. It is not to be any expense on the part of the church. The church is not to be under any obligation. Was so ordered.
Moved and seconed and ordered that we ask Glencoe Mills to put us in a ton of coal.
Moved and seconed and ordered we get single envelopes for the year 1926 - 1927.

Sept 23, 1926
On this date the well at the pastorium was finished. It was dug by the men of community without any cost being 36 ft. deep with 7 ft of water. The terra cotta pipe was given by friends there for the church was put to no cost at all. It is valued at $150.00.
Sept 26, 1926
Today closed the years work of the church with 124 at Sunday School and a good attendance at church services at 745.
Oct 7, 1926
After prayer meeting the pastor called the church to sit in annual conference. While the clerk was getting the letter ready to read for adoption, the pastor call for elections of church officers. It was moved and seconded and ordered we relect the old board of officers.
Was ordered we pay minutes fund $2.50.
After the clerk read the letter to the association it was voted to adopt giving the clerk the to make any changes that may come up.
Was ordered we value the well at the pastorium to the amount of $150.00 making the property valued at $4,150.00. This making the total worth of the church $7,850.00 with insurance to the amount $3,750.00. Up to this date we owe on the pastors house $960.00.
Nov 3, 1926
Meeting of the board of deacons at the church. The question of raising what the association ask us to raise $100.00. The question was discussed.
Moved and seconed and carried that we discontinue Bro John Dickens as a Deacon. His conduct toward the church does not become a Deacon.
Moved and seconed and carried we recommend Bro Ernest Murray to succeed Bro Dickens as Deacon.
Moved and seconed we have the Ordaination of the Decons with the pastor. Was ordered.
Moved and carried we take some steps towards raising the interest on the note held by Bro R. A. Wilson $300.00.
Moved and carried that the clerk fill out the blank asking for aid from the board.
Members present: G. L. Murray, ch; J. R. Allen; Geo Fawcette; C. F. Phillips, C. C.; pastor J. A. Hackney.
Nov 4, 1926
After the prayer meeting the pastor called the church together in conference. The clerk was ask to read the report of the decons. Report read of the $100.00 question and was left as is.
Moved and seconed and vote was taken to accept the report of the Board to the place of Decons to succeed Bro Dickens.
The question of Bro Wilson holding the note of $300.00 was read and was accepted.
Was ordered that the clerk shall fill out the blanks asking for aid from the board.
The mater regarding Bro Jim Allen was left to the board of Deacons.
Moved and seconed and carried that we give the pastor leave for the 1 Sud. night.
