MINUTES OF BUSINESS MEETINGS

1920

The original records are located at Glencoe Baptist Church. The records are handwritten and difficult to read at times. I have generally tried to be accurate in regards to the original spelling and grammer. Appreciation is extended to Glencoe Baptist Church for granting permission to use this document.


 

March 28, 1920

After Church Services of which Bro. F. C. Feezer of Wake forest College preached to us the church was called to order by Bro. C. F. Phillips to act as Mod-. Bro Walter M Williams made a talk to us In Regard to rasing the pastors salary and getting a new pastor the church voted to raise the Salary to $5.00 per week, $260.00 per year to begin as soon as we get a pastor. It was also ordered that we call Bro Feezor of Wake Forest to service untill October 1920 for at this time he is going to school at Louissville KY.

July 25, 1920

Regular preaching Services by pastor F. C. Feezor. and Mrs McKinney and daughter Pearl was received into full fellowship into the church. Revival Services began at this date by the pastor and continued for 10 days the church was strengthened and very much good was done there was 6 conversions 4 of which was received for Baptism. the baptisms to be the 4 Sunday in Auguist before preaching services.

Aug 22, 1920

We met at the river for baptism and after singing a hymn and reading from gods word pastor Feezor baptised the following Miss Bessie Vaughn , Addie Hall, and Annie Ivey. After the baptism the services was con- at the church this being the last sermon by our pastor before going to school.

Aug 26, 1920

After prayer meeting church meet in regular conference with Bro G. L. Murray acting as Moderator. It was moved and carried and ordered by the vote of the members present to grant Sister Daisy Self who lives at Haw River a letter to Unite with Haw River Baptist Church.

Sept 1920

Moved and carried that we call Bro L. U. Wistor of Graham to preach for us 2 & 4 Sunday in Sept.


 

Oct 7, 1920

Church meet in annual conference with Bro. Geo T. Faucette acting as Moderator. After singing hymn no 2 in paper hymnal and reading the first psalms and having prayer by the moderator the following business was transacted.

Dec 5, 1920

Church met in special conference. C. F. Phillips, acting as Moderator. The following business was transacted. The board of deacons recomended to the church the following - that we were not able finacelly to pay $260.00 a year pastor salery and furnish transporation to our paster, Rev. E. C. Dean.

It was also ordered that the clerk send this statement to him.

Dec 26, 1920

Rev. R. S. Lennon of Haw River filled the pulpit. After preaching services, the church was called to-gather in conference with G. L. Murray acting as moderator.

After hearing the reccomendation of the pulpit commeetee recomending a call of Rev. R. S. Lennon the church voted a unamousely call to Bro. Lennon to be our pastor.

Preaching every second Sunday at 11 o'clock a.m. and at 7:30 o'clock p.m.

Bro. R. S. Lennon was called under the same financial understanding of our former pastor E. C. Dean. Namely $260.00 per year, payable monthly.
