Dear Sir and Brother in Christ:
At the regular service of our church, held Sunday May, 1919, and at the close of said afternoon preaching service conducted by our pastor for the past six years and five months, the church was called to order in special conference, with Deacon G. L. Murray in the Chair.
After a brief presentation of the condition and circumstances confronting us as a church, it was voted unanimously to extend you a formal call to become our pastor with the following understanding: That your services will include pastoral work to the extent of at least four days monthly; that your salary will be at the rate of $250.00 per year, payable as follows: This church to pay $150.00, or at the rate of $12.50 per month; and the N. C. Baptist State Convention and our Mt. Zion Baptist Association each to pay at the rate of $100.00 per year, as previously agreed upon. This arrangement to continue until January 1st, 1920; or until other arrangements be agreed to, and the pastoral relation to continue indefinitely or until such a time as either party may desire to terminate the same.
Praying that the blessing of God may rest upon our united efforts for the upbuilding of our church and for the extension of our redeemers kingdom,
I am very respectfully,
(signed) C. F. Phillips
Church Clerk
