To the Churches and Pastors of the Mt. Zion Baptist Association, Greeting:

We are now prepared to proceed with our building enterprise as soon as we can have assurance of your financial asistance. We have subscriptions amounting to more than $750.00 and of this amount over $300.00 is now in bank. We expect to have $400.00 by February 1st, - enough to begin our building operations providing that we can be assured of the financial help that has been promised.

Mr. G. L. Fonville, one of our Deacons, has deeded us a fine and well located lot besides subscribing liberally.

Mr. Robert L. Holt, the owner of the Glencoe Mill Property, and an extensive property owner in our community, has donated a lot for Cemetery purposes, and subscribed $100.00 additionally toward our undertaking, as an expression of his interest in our building enterprise.

The N. C. State Convention, through its Corresponding Secretary, Rev. Livingston Johnson, D. D., has promised us $200.00, on the condition that we erect a suitable building.

At the Associational meetings held at Mebane October 7, 8, 9, this year, the matter was fully explained to the gratification of all present, and Rev. John Jeter Hurt, of the First Church, Durcham, offered the following resolutions, which were adopted unanimously:

Resolved: That we congratulate the Glencoe Baptist Church on their achievements during the Associational year, and, particularly, upon their heroic endeavors to secure a church home; for which they have already secured $625.00 in subscriptions.

Resolved: That, as the accredited representatives of the Churches composing the Mt. Zion Badtist Association, we hereby authorize them to appeal to the churches of the Association for such financial furtherance of their efforts as our churches may feel disposed to give.

With these encouragements we have addressed ourselves to the undertaking with zeal and enthusiasm, and we cherish the hope that we may begin building operations at an early date, possibly in February.

Our need is most urgent if we are to maintain our organization and continue to stand for dearly-bought and Bible-centered principles, as held by our Baptist denomination.

The need for financial help is immediate and pressing. We hope that every pastor and church, and that many individuals, as well, will be generous and prompt in responding to this appeal.

Done by order of the Church, this 15th day of January, Nineteen Hundred and Fourteen.

(signed) William E. Oldham, Church Clerk

P. S. A building costing $1,200.00, exclusive of all furnishings, is planned.
