SARAH RHYNE COLLECTION

These pictures were obtained from the Alamance County Planning Department and the Alamance County Historical Museum. It is believed that they were originally owned by Sarah Rhyne, the woman who saved Glencoe. Her late husband, Myron Rhyne, bought a half-interest in the Glencoe property in the 1950s or 1960s. Mrs. Rhyne realized early on that Glencoe was an important place, and turned away many a developer and hare-brained schemer. She donated her interest in the property in 1997 to Preservation/North Carolina which made it possible for PNC to purchase the entire property.
