REVEREND JOHN A. HACKNEY & WIFE
Rev. John. A. Hackney and his wife, Rachel, standing toward the rear of Glencoe Baptist Church. Rev. Hackney returned to Glencoe in 1925, becoming the only pastor to serve the church twice. Rev. Hackney was also the only pastor to ever ask the church to reduce his salary. He was receiving $34.00 per month and asked that it be reduced to $25.00 per month.
Rev. Hackney faithfully served the church until he died on Saturday evening, August 4, 1928 at his home. He was 63 years old. The funeral was held at the Glencoe church on August 6, with burial at Mt. Zion cemetery. This picture was taken circa 1925.
